About Me

(Ok enough sharing specific identifying details)

I've been unemployed ever since I graduated university in the summer of 2022... because I'm scared to get a job... honestly I don't know what the fuck I'm doing with my life right now.

Music Is My Life

What I love the most in the world is music. I make music and I listen to music. I LOVE MUSIC! My enthusiasm for music has been stifled due to mental illness and shit but it's still the first and last thing I think about. I love concerts I love albums I love music!!!

I write songs as a form of personal expression - to be honest it's the closest thing to a 'calling' I feel that I have. I started writing songs when I was maybe 15? As of January 2024 I have released an album and several separate singles under the stage name Florid. I have another album in the works but it's all on me to actually finish it and I'm feeling in general a bit in over my head with it. Being an artist is hard :/. I'd definitely like to share more about my songs on this site!!

God Is Dead

I am an atheist and have been since I deconverted from Christianity (which I was indoctrinated into by my parents) when I was 19 during the pandemic lockdown. Right now I'm in my really angry Reddit Atheist phase which I'm sure will eventually die down, but currently I'm really passionate about dismantling religion, specifically Christianity. I may end up writing a lot about why I believe Christianity is false on here and I'm sorry if it is upsetting to anyone who reads this. Even when I disagree with people I try to be as respectful and empathetic as possible, as I don't want to be mean. Being mean sucks.

I try to be as open-minded as possible but obviously as a human being this has its limitations. I'm still learning and growing and trying to question everything around me etc. etc. We're all still learning and growing!!!

The Bangtan Boys

I spent a large amount of the last few years (induced by the pandemic) being a fan of the hit Korean hip-hop septet BTS (but don't be alarmed!!! I no longer interact with the fandom as I have many grievances with those people). I have many feelings both positive and negative about everything surrounding Bangtan. I have a lot of respect and love for the group and they inspire me every day, and I think public opinion of them is incredibly skewed by how malicious their fandom can get. Being a BTS fan was my whole personality for YEARS and only since their military service era started have I been deliberately taking a step back and finding who I am outside of this. I think it's been fruitful so far :)

If you're curious I am mostly obsessed with Jung Hoseok (j-hope) and Kim Namjoon (RM). They are... incredible. In general I am very biased towards the rap line (me and Yoongi have the same birthday we're twins :3) as I have mountains of respect for all the parts of them they've shared through their lyrics over the years. They are at the core of what I love about BTS. I think it's such a shame that the general opinion of this group is not a great one, because I think there's so much authenticity and soul the rappers put into their art that goes unappreciated (even by their own fans hahaha trying not to be salty). Namjoon is the one who inspired me to call myself an artist. I hope in 100 years time he can be recognised as an artist and not just a "K-Pop Idol" ya know? RM stands for Real Music!!!
